Tasty appetizers can be healthy too. Savory homemade guacamole gets the party started right, and fresh fruit tarts hit the sweet spot!

Here are some sweet and savory appetizers to tempt your guests' taste buds! Yummy appetizers can also be healthy for you. You can use fresh ingredients and some easy recipes to get your holiday gathering off to a great start!

Try these recipes at home, and you will have your holiday guests raving about your fun holiday appetizers while they catch up over a great meal!

Fresh, savory guacamole is just a few easy steps away! Get your mixing bowl out, mash up some avoacados, and add a few simple ingredients. Click here for our recipe for Guacamole, via the Celebrate Your Plate curriculum. You can make this dip easy to eat by spreading it on a pita wedge, adding a pretzel for a "tree trunk," and maybe adding some cut-up bell peppers for extra color.

Sweetening up your appetizer selection is easy with fruit tarts! These no-fork-needed tarts take just a few wonton skins (baked a few minutes in the oven), jam or jelly of your choice, fresh fruit, and a dollop of yogurt or whipped cream on top. Click here for our easy Fresh Fruit Tarts recipe.

Got chocolate and peanut butter? Combine them with strawberries for a unique finger food at your holiday gathering. Or have leftover wonton wrappers from those fruit tarts?
