Advertising in Newsletters
Advertisements may be included in newsletters. If an advertisement is included, postage must be purchased with dollars that are not appropriated dollars; you may not use your county commissioner’s funding. The advertisement should not contain or be construed as an endorsement of the advertiser by The Ohio State University or Ohio State University Extension. Content of the advertisements must coincide with the vision, mission and values of OSU Extension.
Below are two possibilities:
(1) At the top of a page with business card advertisements, say: “We gratefully acknowledge the support of our advertisers and sponsors who underwrite a portion of the cost of producing this newsletter.
(2) At the bottom of the section with the advertisements in the newsletter using a 8 or 9 size font (small, but not too small): “No endorsement is intended for specific products or businesses that are advertised in this newsletter, nor is criticism meant for products not mentioned. Advertisements for companies and products are printed as provided. The authors and OSU Extension do not represent or endorse the quality of any products, information, or other materials displayed, purchased, or obtained as part of an advertisement that appears in this newsletter. Ohio State University Extension specifically disclaims any liability to advertisers and readers of any kind for loss or damage of any nature whatsoever and however arising, whether due to inaccuracy, error, omission or any other cause, regardless of who is at fault, due to the use of the advertisements or other information herein.
