OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Teresa, known by her colleagues as T, strives to ensure that everyone hired into Extension has a successful career. She gives leadership to the Learning and Organizational Development (LOD) unit and oversees its efforts to provide career development (onboarding and mentoring); professional development (leadership, supervisory skills, critical conversations, and emotional intelligence); program development and evaluation (data reporting and visualization); and digital content development (digital video, graphics, and audio, instructional design, accessibility, and e-course development on the Canvas platform), for all Extension faculty and staff.

“Professional development is a critical key to the long-term success of our employees. It's one of my passions to help our professionals develop skills that will benefit their work and their interpersonal relationships.”
T. McCoy

A Message from Teresa

ADDITIONAL PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Teresa came to Ohio State with a long-term commitment to higher education outreach and Cooperative Extension. Prior to becoming a Buckeye, Teresa was the assistant director of Evaluation and Assessment for the University of Maryland Extension (UME). Teresa served as a member of the UME leadership team, with responsibilities in program development and evaluation, situational analysis, strategic planning, and organization development. In Maryland, she also worked closely with Extension educators to teach them program development and evaluation practices that resulted in evidence to demonstrate outcomes.

Prior to moving to Maryland, Teresa worked in Lorain County, Ohio for eight years. She was executive director of the Public Services Institute at Lorain County Community College, where she provided research-based information and other services to improve nonprofits and local government in the county.

Teresa started her career with Virginia Cooperative Extension, first as a research assistant and later as an Extension specialist in leadership and program development. Her evaluation interest was kindled in 1988, when she served as an evaluation assistant on a Kellogg-funded technology project. She also served as an assistant editor for the Journal of Extension during the first two years as it transitioned to an electronic format.

Teresa and her husband, Jim, enjoy cooking, traveling, biking, and watching college football, including the Buckeyes in the Horseshoe.
