OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES
As a member of OSU Extension’s leadership team, Julie serves two priorities. She provides leadership for OSU Extension’s focused approach to addressing Ohio’s urban influence and urban-rural connections.Through strategic initiatives, she brings together faculty, staff, students, and community leaders for innovative solutions to fulfill OSU's land-grant university mission.
Julie also leads important work in building understanding of the unique combination of rural and urban influences. She engages with other Extension leaders, faculty, staff, and students, as well as other university and community partners, to strategize how to align resources to fulfill a number of strategic goals.

ADDITIONAL PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
As an associate professor with Ohio State's College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES), Julie serves on Extension's leadership team focusing on strategic initatives and urban engagement. She began her Ohio State career in 1998, with a program leadership position at the OSU South Centers. She accepted an administrative position in 2014 to become a regional director and also focus on statewide urban engagement. Since 2018, Julie's role continues to focus on Ohio's urban influence, as well as on strategic initiatives.
Julie's scholarly presentations, service, and grantsmanship have earned her national recognition. Julie created the curriculum for the national Leadership in the City course; and she recently co-taught a capstone course in leadership for the Department of Agricultural Communication, Education, and Leadership (ACEL). Her research focuses on entrepreneurial leadership and urban-suburban-rural interdependencies. She has served on the University Senate for Ohio State and the steering committee for the National Urban Extension Leaders (NUEL), as well as on the board of directors for the National Association of Community Development Extension Professionals (NACDEP) and the Extension Journal Inc. Her service also includes guest editing the urban-themed issue of the Journal of Human Sciences and Extension (JHSE).
Julie's background includes working in Africa, Asia, Australia, and Europe. Prior to working for Ohio State, she served as the executive director for an international trade association and as a marketing manager for a worldwide nonprofit organization.
