It is that time of year that we recognize colleagues for the successful application for promotion in rank. Our A&P and faculty program professionals continually engage in a variety of functions (think programming, engagement, teaching, scholarship, service, etc). When “ready” their accomplishments across these activities are reviewed by peers weighed against the expectations of their rank and position description.
Fall is for football and going back to school (well, normally). It is when the days get shorter, the dew gets heavier, and Linus waits patiently in the moonlit darkness for the Great Pumpkin. It is also when faculty promotion and tenure committees come together to review the accomplishments of their faculty peers.
Welcome to the Extension Promotion blog. Here we will share and discuss all things related to faculty and A&P promotion (and so much more). In short, the goal is to help improve our understanding of what it means to be an Extension professional. In practical terms, we will focus on promotion-related things like the process, timelines, deadlines, roles, and responsibilities. We will talk about why promotion matters and connect you to the resources you will need. And, as changes occur that may impact your journey as an Extension professional, they will be highlighted here.
