The Public Issues Committee actively works to build and strengthen political and public support for Ohio State University Extension through consistent and targeted communication with local, state and federal decision makers and agencies; educates and informs the membership about public issues and legislative matters affecting Ohio State University Extension programs and staff.

Present: Doug Foxx, Gigi Neal, Pat Holmes, Kathy Bruynis, Stacey Baker, Heather Gottke, Beau Ingle, and Adam Ward.

  1. Report from Adam Ward & Beau Ingle
    1. 3 Areas of Interest
      1. Workforce Development
      2. Early Childhood Education
      3. Water Quality
    2. Looking for more resources related to FCS (Family Consumer Sciences) to help with promotion in future programming and collaboration(s).
    3. General Budget shows increases for this year and positive potential for 2021 Budget.
    4. Adam hopes to send out a monthly (or semi-regular) update to all-extension to help us understand issues/topics.
  2. Committee Asks
    1. Key bills for 2020, key issues or rising topics.
    2. Developing more about county-based stewards roles and expectations.
  3. Committee Action
    1. Adam and Beau (Ingle.14) encourage everyone to reach out if there is something of interest that you think they should know.
    2. The committee would like to meet with PILD planning committee to offer help.
