About Agriculture and Natural Resources
Hancock County has 340,480 acres of which 77.5% is devoted to agriculture. U.S. data shows 950 farms, with an average farm size of 278 acres. The county ranked 4th in Ohio wheat production and 5th in Ohio soybean production in 2007. There are several active livestock commodity groups, & local agricultural producers and leaders meet monthly via Ag Council. Small woodlands still exist in many parts of the county, providing good habit for wildlife. The Blanchard River and its tributaries make up the county's major watershed.
